Solar dryer. We dehydrate part of the harvest using the sun. Air heats up in a collector with a clear cover and a dark absorber plate, then flows through a closed chamber that protects the food from dust, insects and rain. This lets us preserve herbs, chiles, tomatoes, fruit and greens without grid electricity and with less waste. We are adding temperature control: a sensor switches on ventilation at about 40 °C to protect colour, aroma and nutrients.
